Commencement Information

Commencement at UC San Diego is conducted individually by each College. College ceremonies are held on the RIMAC Field or in RIMAC Arena. The following list details the Commencement dates and times for each College. For additional information on Commencement 2010, see the current student information Web site.

Parents and family members of graduate students are encouraged to contact their student’s graduate school for more information regarding commencement.

Information for Parents & Family Members with Disabilities

• Planning ahead for program and physical access to Commencement ceremonies for parents and family members with disabilities is important!  UC San Diego welcomes families and friends who have disabilities, and provides an opportunity to make requests in advance for modifications (i.e. large print booklets, access for wheelchairs/use of crutches, sound magnification). If you will need accommodations during the Commencement weekend, visit the Office for Students with Disabilities Commencement Information Web page for more information and to submit a request for accommodations. 

All Campus Graduation Ceremony (ACGC)

The All Campus Graduation Celebration (ACGC) provides undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to celebrate graduation with their friends outside of the bounds of their college or academic school. Held on RIMAC field, ACGC is a fun, informal (no caps and gowns) tradition featuring food, beer and wine, entertainment, and a short program of speakers.

The featured speaker is alumnus Laren Poole, who at the age of 21 co-founded Invisible Children in 2005. Invisbile Children is a non-profit humanitarian organization best known for documenting the enslavement of thousands of children as soldiers in war-torn northern Uganda (http://invisiblechildren.com).

Program on RIMAC field on June 11

• 6:00 p.m. - Reception with food and beverages
• 7:00 p.m. - Main program with Chancellor Welcome and Featured Speaker, Laren Poole
• 7:30 p.m. - Dinner, Beverages including beer and wine, Live Entertainment
• 8:30 p.m. - Closing Fireworks Show

Tickets

This ticketed event is free to graduating UCSD students. One ticket per student. An unlimited number of guest tickets can be purchased ($10 for dinner, no beer and wine, $15 for dinner and beer and wine). Tickets are available at the UCSD Box Office located at the Price Center plaza. For more information call (858) 534-4762.

Parking

Parking is free the night of the event in the Hopkins and Pangea parking structures. Convenient disabled guest parking is located at parking lot P359 adjacent to the Spanos Training Facility just north of RIMAC field. Cart transportation service to RIMAC field will be available at this location.

Hotel/Travel Information

Families are encouraged to make travel plans, hotel arrangements, and car rental reservations early. Approximately 4,000 undergraduate students graduate from UC San Diego each year, and therefore hotels in the area reach occupancy quickly.
