Academics Applaud 10 Distinguished Campus Teachers
UC San Diego’s Academic Senate presented the 2013 Distinguished Teaching Awards to 10 campus scholars in a formal ceremony. These distinguished faculty exemplify our tradition of excellence in teaching, research and service,” said Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla. “It is because of our talented faculty, and our strength across disciplines, that UC San Diego has become a world-renowned university in only five decades, preparing our next generation of leaders and tackling some of society’s most complex challenges.”
Video Games on Syllabus for Popular Computer Science and Engineering Class
Dust bunnies that want to eat your food. A tentacle monster that is holding you prisoner on a space ship. Rocket pilots who are trying to steal resources away from you. These are some of the foes featured in video games designed—from scratch—by students in Computer Science and Engineering 125. As part of the course, students create everything from graphics and sound, to networking, to models and animation, in addition to setting up a server for the game.
