Raul Carranza, who is graduating with a degree in political science from UC San Diego, is not your typical student. The Chula Vista native, who will soon apply to law school and plans to run for public office someday, is passionate about American politics, cares about social justice, studies hard and has a wry sense of humor—but that is not all that sets him apart.

An award-winning play by UC San Diego alumnus Jeff Augustin, ’14, “The Last Tiger in Haiti,” premieres during the La Jolla Playhouse's upcoming 2016/2017 season. This marks the first time that a former UC San Diego theatre student’s production has premiered during the playhouse’s regular season.
